• Tests Improve in-Vitro Fertilization Odds

Women who undergo in-vitro fertilization may now face less chance of failure or multiple births, and have better odds of having a healthy baby, based on a test developed by scientists at Yale and McGill universities. The new, noninvasive test could remove much of the heartache, suffering and expense now inherent in in-vitro fertilization, said study leader Dr. Emre Seli, assistant professor of obstetrics and gynecology at Yale.

• Wednesday Tennis: Arundel Edges Broadneck

The second-ranked Arundel tennis team swept the singles matches and picked up a key win at second girls doubles in a 5-4 win over third-ranked Broadneck. Emre Ucal and Adam Ogonowski both won in straight sets in boys singles, while Amy Olson and Michelle Wilson did the same in girls singles. The doubles team of Genny Busch and Katherine Shaman sealed the victory for the Wildcats.

NEW HAVEN -- Woodbridge Country Club is celebrating its 60th anniversary with a cocktail reception at 6:30 p.m. Saturday. The event will benefit the Yale-New Haven Hospital pediatric organ transplantation unit. Dr. Sukru Emre, chief of transplantation and immunology and director of the Yale-New Haven Transplantation Center, will be the guest speaker at the reception. One of Emre's pediatric patients will speak about her experience as a transplant recipient. The reception will include two New York City comedians, an illusionist, an auction and a raffle.
