A Hazelwood man who remained on the run for more than three years after being indicted by a federal grand jury has pleaded guilty in U.S. District Court to charges of violating drug and gun laws.
Jermaine Chatman, 27, was arrested in December 2003 after city and county police raided his home on Johnston Avenue and found about 2,000 stamped bags of heroin, marijuana bagged for sale, six guns, ammunition and more than $8,000 in cash, police said.

A Hazelwood man who remained on the run for more than three years after being indicted by a federal grand jury was sentenced Thursday in federal court to nearly eight years in prison for his conviction on charges of violating drug and gun laws.
Jermaine Chatman, 27, was arrested in December 2003 after Pittsburgh and Allegheny County police raided his home on Johnston Avenue and found about 2,000 stamped bags of heroin, marijuana bagged for sale, six guns, ammunition and more than $8,000 in cash, police said.

I have mentioned this before, and I still think it could be a possible prevention and/or a tool in controlling random shootings, and other unlawful use of firearms. So, why not control the sale of ammunition?
Sell ammunition only to those with registered firearms and only for the firearm registered. Keep those with registered firearms in a database connected to photographic identification cards such as a driver's license.
