United States v. American Society of Composers, Authors and Publishers et al.
UNITED STATES COURT OF A...

A night of karaoke performances at a small Reisterstown bar that included a rendition of Lionel Richie's "Stuck on You" was the last straw for the American Society of Composers, Authors and Publishers, which has filed a lawsuit seeking thousands in alleged unpaid royalties.
The complaint was filed in federal court in Baltimore by 10 ASCAP members against the owners of the Starlight Diner and Club. The plaintiffs claim Bertol Inc., the owner, did not have a blanket license from ASCAP to perform copyrighted songs when it held a karaoke night on Dec. 5, 2006.
