• Dorothy Simpson Bailey

VIRGINIA BEACH - Dorothy Mae Simpson Bailey, 96, of 3100 Shore Drive, passed away Sept. 14, 2010. Born in Washington, D.C., April 8, 1914, she was the only child of the late Walter Scott Simpson and Elsie Berry Simpson. Dorothy graduated from McKinley High School in the District of Columbia. In 1938 she married James McKelvy Newkirk Bailey, started her family during the war years and raised them in Washington, D.C. Dorothy worked for many years on the staff of the Pathfinder Printing Company in Washington, and later retired in 1979 from the D.C. Chapter of the American Red Cross National Capital Area, District of Columbia Office, after 20 years of service. In 1990 she moved to Virginia Beach where she resided at Westminster-Canterbury and attended Eastern Shore Chapel.
