WASHINGTON - Advocacy groups of all stripes united behind a plan Thursday that calls for tax breaks and an expansion of existing government programs in an effort to reduce the number of uninsured Americans. The groups, representing doctors, insurers, employers and patients, have been working behind the scenes for nearly two years.
President Barack Obama on Monday spoke in Chicago at the annual meeting of the American Medical Association, pushing his plan to reshape the nation's health care system and extend coverage to millions without it.
