A sub-group of the American Bar Association Commission on Ethics 20/20 is investigating how online and print publications that rate lawyers and law firms come up with their findings.
Donald Hilliker, co-chair of the panel, said representatives of three lawyer-rating services testified at a recent hearing on the issue: Best Lawyers, a nationwide ranking of law firms; the Am Law 100, a yearly ranking of the largest law firms; and Avvo, an online lawyer-rating directory.
