The nation's regulatory agency over credit unions has reversed its earlier decision to approve America First Federal Credit Union's expansion into several Utah counties. An America First executive, however, says the credit union will "continue to advocate" for people in so-called "underserved" areas.
The Federal Housing Finance Agency (FHFA) is announcing the Federal Home Loan Bank (Bank) members it has selected for the 2010 fourth round review cycle under the FHFA's community support requirements regulation. Having a board member holding political office clearly can lend clout when a credit union's needs are at stake during the lawmaking process. But not every credit union director or staff member will be able to pursue office -- or get elected if they try.
