One of the movements to preserve Thanksgiving as a day of feasting, and prevent it from becoming a day of shopping, was born out of a blog by a New Jersey resident. And a Seattle-based company that operates a recipes website is backing the campaign.
A year ago, Doug Matthews, 49, of Mendham posted a blog on Allrecipes.com called "Respect the Bird" that urged readers to give Thanksgiving more respect as a holiday and protect it from being forgotten in the rush to Christmas.

We are now off and running in the year 2012, but I'm still wondering, what happened to 2011? It seemed to simply disappear before my eyes. I guess the business of everyday life can do that to a year. One thing that didn't get away from me are some of the great new recipes I tried in 2011. When it comes to cooking, I am pretty well organized, but several other areas of my life are wanting badly for an organization makeover. One of my goals for 2012 is to set up a paper processing system instead of letting multiple stacks of paper pile up on the kitchen counter. Goodness knows I could use that counter space for my cooking activities! Those stacks don't usually include recipes of course, because when I find a recipe I like, I file it away into a special recipe binder that I have divided in...

Ronni Biolosky from Cleveland was looking for a recipe for a squash casserole similar to one she had enjoyed recently at a dinner party. She said it was made with yellow squash and probably had egg and cheese in it as well.
Holladay Bank from Butler, Md., sent in a recipe for a yellow squash casserole that she found on allrecipes.com. She says that she is not much of a cook but that this casserole is very easy to make, goes well with just about any main course and always seems to be a crowd-pleaser.
