SALEM -- Gertrude "Trudy" Martig, 70, of Salem, died Thursday, Sept. 15, 2011 at Alliance Community Hospital. She was born June 25, 1941 in Millersburg, the daughter of the late Milton and Helen (Lawhead) Cline, and was a graduate of Millersburg High School.
ALLIANCE -- Evelyn June Battershell, 89, of Alliance, died at 1:18 p.m. Thursday, Sept. 16, 2010, at Alliance Community Hospital. She was born Oct. 3, 1920, in Atwater, to William H. and Sylvia (Carlisle) Cobb and was a lifelong area resident. Evelyn was a 1938 graduate of Atwater High School, and was employed for 20 years with Marlington Schools. She retired in 1980, as a cafeteria manager at Marlington High School.

ORRVILLE -- Kenneth Lawson Beatty, 68, of Orrville, formerly of Alliance, died Sunday, Aug. 7, 2011, at Dunlap Community Hospital in Orrville, after a long period of declining health. Ken was born Feb. 14, 1943, in Alliance to Willard and Bessie (Dezenzo) Beatty and married Judy Ann King on Nov. 26, 1976, in Canton. She survives.

SEBRING -- The Rev. Glenn A. Waggamon, 80, of Sebring, died Monday, Sept. 15, 2008, at Alliance Community Hospital. He was born July 16, 1928, in Easton, to Perry D. and Verna (Hatfield) Waggamon and was a resident of the vicinity since 1970.
The three open seats on the Marin Healthcare District board went to Larry Bedard, James Clever and Jennifer Rienks, who finished first, second and third, respectively. Bedard and Clever were endorsed by the community organization Alliance to Save our Hospital, while Rienks enjoyed the support of a rival group, Friends of the Marin Healthcare District, which also backed two unsuccessful candidates. The three winners will have to set aside their differences if they hope to steer Marin General Hospital through a challenging transition that will include an eventual break from managing corporation Sutter Health.
SEBRING -- Velma R. Shilling, 84, died at Alliance Community Hospital on Monday, Dec. 3, 2007, following a long illness. Velma was born Oct. 13, 1923, in Findley, to Cleveland H. and Harrietta (Bartlett) Jelley.
Foundation hires Webb-Williams Robyn M. Webb-Williams has been named vice president of the Doctors Community Hospital Foundation, of Lanham, which seeks individual and corporate contributions as well as planned-giving opportunities. Webb-Williams has served as a senior member of national nonprofit organizations, including the National Fair Housing Alliance and the National Caucus and Center on Black Aged, raising funds for issues concerning health care, housing and civil rights. She is a member of the Association for Fundraising Professionals and serves on the board of directors for the YWCA of the National Capital Area in Washington, D.C.
