ONTARIO, Calif., Feb. 22, 2011 /PRNewswire/ -- The February 19, 2011 article written by reporters from California Watch repeats SEIU's allegation that Prime Healthcare hospitals use a diagnosis of malnutrition to increase reimbursement. This allegation is baseless and nothing more than another example of SEIU distorting the facts in order to mislead the public and extort concessions from Prime Healthcare. First, Prime Healthcare hospitals do not use a diagnosis of malnutrition to increase reimbursement. Indeed, the relevant (i.e., where the diagnosis affected reimbursement) malnutrition rate at all Prime Healthcare hospitals was 3.6%, which is much less than the rates referenced in the article. HARRISBURG -- Attorneys for two former Penn State University administrators charged with failing to report a child sex crime allegation against Jerry Sandusky vow to use public appearances to attack the credibility of his chief accuser, assistant football coach Mike McQueary. If it were true that Mr. McQueary actually observed Mr. Sandusky sodomizing a 10-year-old boy in the shower, any information that depicts Mr. McQueary socializing with Mr. Sandusky at any time after the alleged 2002 incident raises doubts about Mr. McQueary's grand jury testimony and calls Mr. McQueary's credibility into serious question," Pittsburgh attorney Thomas J. SAN BERNARDINO - A man who was convicted of fatally shooting a friend in San Bernardino over the sale of an old Ford Bronco was sentenced Thursday to 50 years to life in state prison. Jonathan Valencia, 20, was sentenced in the March 2009 slaying of Jose Vargas Jr. before Judge Ronald Christianson in San Bernardino Superior Court. Valencia was found guilty Oct. 5 of murder and a special allegation for the use of a firearm.

PASADENA - Young Song, 40, of Pasadena, pleaded not guilty Thursday to one felony count of animal cruelty and one count of misdemeanor petty theft of a dog - with a special allegation of personal use of a deadly weapon - for his reported involvement in the brutal beating of his next door neighbor's puppy, said Deputy District Attorney Alison Matsumoto in a statement. Bail was set at $40,000 and Song is due back in court May 26 to set a date for a preliminary hearing. If convicted, Song faces more than four years in state prison.

LONG BEACH - A jury on Friday found a Long Beach man guilty of first-degree murder for the 2006 shooting death of his Alcoholics Anonymous sponsor. Scott Gordon Reynolds was convicted of one count of first-degree murder with an allegation of use of firearm, and another count of criminal threats. He is scheduled for sentencing Oct. 15. He faces 50 years to life in prison.
