Half of the people rush up to the others and touch or embrace them in unexpected ways (say, head to stomach, hand to ankle) and retreat, but at the same time, some of those touched peel off to become touchers in some fascinating unreadable pattern that McMurray might be orchestrating. [...] all the previous choreographic motifs recur simultaneously, performed by small groups, and when Ma's cello takes up again- ravishingly-the great Protestant hymn, "Rock of Ages," people begin collapsing on each other; others walk backward, belly-up on all fours, their mouths open; still others stand, dieir attention heavenward: college days as a sensual barrage of sights and sounds.

If there were ever a time when it might be important to examine the nature of human instinct, this would be it. In an age where it seems technology rules and nature drools, Columbia Entertainment Company's "Sylvia" makes an interesting statement about what humans really need in this life.
When Katie Jarman makes her frenzied entrance as Sylvia wearing an oversize sweater and kneepads, we see a woman who seems to be confused about her species: she thinks she's a dog. We wonder what this attractive 20-something is doing crawling around on all fours. Then we realize Jarman is not playing a human at all. Rather, she is the anthropomorphic incarnation of a cuddly canine that everyone seems to adore: She's actually playing a dog. The caveat? You can understand her speech.

THE WASHINGTON POST Jim Justice, owner of the Greenbrier resort, spa and casino in White Sulphur Springs, hopes to return the hotel to elite status. The Greenbrier has been everything to the rural area since the resorts mineral springs began drawing the well- heeled and socially connected before the Civil War.
LEWISBURG Late on the night of Nov. 30, a man named Jim Justice walked into the Applebees restaurant in this town in the southwestern corner of one of the poorest states in America. It was just up from the Walmart on Route 219 and hard by Interstate 64. He had a few friends and family members with him, and a sheaf of papers in one hand. Justice, coach of the local high schools girls basketball team, was celebrating a season-opening victory, an 81-43 blowout. The kitchen was closi...

University of Maine men's hockey coach Tim Whitehead said he was OK with the NCAA Ice Hockey Rules Committee's decision to pull the proposal that would have forbid teams from icing the puck while shorthanded and he liked the awarding of the 2013 and 2014 Frozen Fours to Pittsburgh and Philadelphia, respectively.
Pittsburgh and Philadelphia will be first-time hosts and the Frozen Fours will be held in the NHL rinks of the Penguins and Flyers, respectively.
