First, let's talk about numbers. Even though the Census Bureau (CB) estimates 11 million illegal aliens live in America, the real numbers are much higher. Even CB officials admit that many illegal aliens purposely avoid the census count. Bear Stern provides a more reliable count. It puts the number of illegal aliens at around 20 million. Rep. Tom Tancredo (R-Colo.), chairman of the Congressional Immigration Reform Caucus, puts the number at over 18 million.
Beyond that, let's not discount the individual motivations of the two major parties. Rhetoric to the contrary notwithstanding, both the Democratic and Republican parties in Washington, D.C., desire that illegal immigration continue unabated. When it comes to illegal immigration, President [Bush] and [Hillary Clinton] are allies, not ...

THE RUMORS are true. Roswell, alien autopsies, government conspiracies, even all of those suspicious abduction stories. Aliens are real, they are organized and they have been on Earth for more than 50 years. Oh, and one more thing: They're really mad!
Midway's latest first-person shooter, "Area 51," follows the exploits of a member of Hazmat Team Bravo as he searches a contaminated military base (Area 51) for the missing members of Hazmat Team Delta. Along the way, he must battle hordes of nasty aliens, as well as humans infected with a strange alien virus.

Canadians who own vacation homes in the US need to be informed about US taxes on decedents' estates. The estate tax has no marital deduction provision if the survivor is a foreigner, unless the property goes to a qualified domestic trust. Estates of nonresident aliens are liable for the same real property tax as US citizens or residents. Foreigners also get a much lower estate tax credit than US citizens.

Is there no end to President Bush's perfidy? He's approved a moon base from which our military can shoot at alien visitors, which "could get us into an intergalactic war," says a man who should know, Paul Hellyer, who was Canada's defense minister for four years in the 1960s. Aliens are quite real, he told a crowd at the University of Toronto in September, and Bush is about to make them still more alienated unless our moral compass to the north sets up good relations first, which Hellyer is urging. How reassuring that someone's standing on guard for E.T.

Virginia Gov. Timothy M. Kaine doesn't want to crack down on the crime of illegal immigration ("Richmond aflutter on illegal aliens," Editorial, Jan. 14) or risk offending the business lobby by making it more difficult for lobby members to find black-market labor in his state.
At least he is honest. Though he apparently is labeling illegal aliens "new Americans," real American workers are watching their wages fall and their taxes dollars go to subsidize the employers' illegal "cheap labor.

How do you define hope?
For Marcia C., hope is the possibility that her mentally ill 29- year-old son will stop brandishing a very real machete at the scary stranger he sometimes sees riding on the back bumper of her car. That he will accept as unlikely that invisible police officers in invisible suits are infiltrating his apartment. That he will recognize the terrifying space aliens in the nearby woods for the hallucinations they are. That he will stop locking himself in his closet for days at a time. And take his anti-psychotic medications.
