CALGARY, Dec. 13, 2012 /CNW/ - The Alberta Securities Commission (ASC) is warning investors about a "high yield investment" scheme offered through a promotional website for Loyal Financial Group. A "high yield investment" scheme involves an investment that promises unrealistically high returns while disclosing few details on how such returns are generated.
The ASC is issuing the investor alert after it received reports that Loyal Financial Group has solicited investors using internet advertising or news releases on public news wires promoting investments with monthly returns of two per cent to 13.5 per cent. CALGARY, Aug. 7, 2012 /CNW/ - The Alberta Securities Commission (ASC) has concluded a settlement with Kenneth Barry Healing of Red Deer, Alberta. Under the Settlement Agreement, Healing agreed to cease trading in securities and exchange contracts for three years and paid the ASC $60,000 plus $5,000 in costs.
In a March 2012 ASC Notice of Hearing it had been alleged that Healing traded in shares of Matrikon Inc. while in a "special relationship" with Matrikon, having learned of an impending acquisition of Matrikon by Honeywell International Inc. before the acquisition was publicly disclosed.
