Miller is appealing a state judge's decision to toss out his challenge to the handling of the election and counting of write-in ballots for Murkowski, who waged a write-in campaign after losing the GOP primary to Miller.

JUNEAU, Alaska (AP) -- Republican Joe Miller is ending his fight over Alaska's U.S. Senate seat, conceding the race to his bitter rival, incumbent Sen. Lisa Murkowski.

Alaska Sen. Lisa Murkowski trails a "tea party"-backed challenger by a slim margin in the state's Republican primary held on Tuesday that's still close to call.
If the results hold, Mrs. Murkowski would join a growing list of Republican Party insiders who have fallen to political upstarts in primary elections in a year that has featured an unusually high level of GOP infighting.

JUNEAU, Alaska -- The addition of the last big batch of absentee ballots has provided no clarity in the still-undecided Alaska Senate race between GOP nominee Joe Miller and U.S. Sen. Lisa Murkowski.
Murkowski ran as a write-in after losing the primary. A total of 8,707 votes were added Monday. It gave write-in votes the lead, with 102,028 votes cast. Miller had 90,448 votes.

JUNEAU, Alaska - Republican Joe Miller has conceded the Alaska U.S. Senate race to party rival Sen. Lisa Murkowski, ending nearly two months of debate and court litigation.
Miller announced his decision at a news conference in Anchorage Friday, one day after the state certified the incumbent Murkowski as the winner of the November election.
