WASHINGTON, Aug. 4 /U.S. Newswire/ -- Karin J. Immergut, United States Attorney for the District of Oregon, announces that the government has filed a motion to dismiss charges currently pending against the Al-Haramain Islamic Foundation, Inc., because two individual defendants who operated the charity have not been apprehended and the government does not want to proceed to trial piecemeal. If the motion is granted, the government would have the ability to re-indict the Al-Haramain Islamic Foundation if either of the two fugitives are apprehended. The George W. Bush administration will long be remembered for its constitutional and legal arguments on behalf of exclusive and inherent executive power.
