Half the teachers of two low-performing Buffalo elementary schools will be moved out in 2012-13, under plans the district will file with Albany at the end of the month, district officials said this week.
Staff could be moved from other schools, too, which will become clear in the next two weeks. But teachers at Futures Academy and Dr. Charles Drew Science Magnet School 59 are nearly certain to be transferred under plans the district will submit to Albany.

With the 1939 thing," she explains, "they did everything wrong. They changed [Ned Nickerson]'s name to Ted, which was just weird. But what really upset me was the way that early film portrayed [Nancy]. At one point, there's an underground passage, and she and Ned-or Ted-are down in this passageway, and something happens and Nancy screams bloody murder, and Ned has to bail her out. It was Ned doing everything. He's the one who keeps calm and figures everything out and devises hydraulic mining tools out of broken water pipes, while Nancy just stands there going, 'Ned, Ned. Hurry! The water's rising! Help me. I IeIp me!' It was totally, totally wrong. In the books, it was never Ned figuring everything out, though he was certainly there and he always helped. But it was Nancy who always fig...

CHICAGO - The high-profile murder case against former suburban Chicago police officer Drew Peterson, accused of killing his third wife, might never make it to trial, experts say, after a court agreed that prosecutors shouldn't be allowed to use certain hearsay statements as evidence.
The ruling by a state appellate court this week upholding a lower court's decision to exclude eight of 14 hearsay - or second-hand - statements raises fresh questions about the viability of trying Peterson on charges he killed Kathleen Savio in 2004. Peterson was charged only after his fourth wife, Stacy Peterson, disappeared in 2007 and Savio's body was exhumed. Prosecutors have presented no physical evidence or eyewitnesses and have said the hearsay statements were vital.

"From a physical standpoint, I would want him. But if you look at his history with the chemistry issues with his last two quarterbacks and the fact he Is a constant attention getter and when things don't go well, problems occur with him, you don't want that with a young team.
