The primary runway at Forbes Field needs new side stripes -- and the airport's staff wants to buy a $60,000 machine to do the work. Metropolitan Topeka Airport Authority president Eric Johnson asked the five-member MTAA board Tuesday to let him purchase a paint liner to stripe both sides of the 12,802-foot runway at Forbes. ONTARIO - Area state lawmakers have introduced a bill that would transfer control of L.A./Ontario International Airport from the city of Los Angeles to a regional airport authority. The authority would reduce ONT's $67 million annual operating budget by streamlining operations and eliminating an $8.7 million administrative fee, said Senate GOP leader Bob Dutton, R-Rancho Cucamonga, who introduced the bill on Wednesday.
Westmoreland County Airport Authority officials are preparing for Spirit Airlines' arrival at Arnold Palmer Regional Airport in February by hiring extra staff and making improvements to the terminal. Authority board members approved three contracts for terminal improvements at Tuesday's meeting and heard about ongoing interviews for the staff members needed to run the low-cost carrier's flights out of the Unity-based facility.
