Every other week, Daniel David Jennings usually hopped a plane to get home to Bailey Road in Cross Lanes from his job as an aircraft mechanic in Washington, D.C.
But this week he couldn't get a flight, said his father David Jennings.

A memorial Mass for Sami G. Williams, who worked as a FedEx aircraft mechanic and buyer for many years, will be offered at 12:30 p.m. Saturday in St. Mary of the Lake Catholic Church, 4737 Lake Shore Road, Hamburg.
Mr. Williams, who grew up in Hamburg and lived in Eads, Tenn., died unexpectedly Oct. 1. He was 57.

An aircraft maintenance superintendent with the 130th Aircraft Maintenance Squadron, 130th Airlift Wing, West Virginia Air National Guard, Charleston, received the Air Force Associations top award for outstanding contributions to aircraft maintenance, Sept. 13 at the AFA Annual Air and Space Conference near Washington, D.C. Chief Master Sgt. Anthony M. Buddy Palla of Charleston won the CMSgt. Dick Red Award, presented annually to an enlisted member of the Air National Guard. Its an honor, said Palla. BREWER - , 89, died Tuesday, Nov. 15, 2011 at a Bangor hospital. He was born March 23, 1922, in Verona, the son of Elwin and Mary (Bennett) Treworgy.
Harmon grew up in Verona and Bangor. He was a 1939 graduate of Bangor High School. After school he enlisted in the Army Air Corps, where he was an aircraft mechanic and later in the Navy Seabees. Harmon had more than 30 years of service to his country and was a Vietnam veteran. After his military career he worked for RB Harriman Inc., and Brake Service until his retirement in 1987. He will always be remembered as a dependable, kind and hardworking man.

Keith Fieschel was 19 and living in New York when he decided to join the Air Force in 1983. He became an aircraft mechanic, traveled the world from base to base and rose to the rank of master sergeant.
By all appearances, Fieschel was a military lifer, someone you wouldn't expect to leave for a civilian job.

BREWER and BANGOR - H. , 81, went to be with the Lord Wednesday, Jan. 4, 2012, at a Bangor hospital. He was born Jan. 23, 1930, in Jonesport, son of James F. and Ruth M. (Crowley) Lamson.
Lee grew up in Jonesport, attending school there and developing a lifelong love of the ocean. He served in the Air Force during the Korean War as an aircraft mechanic, and then served a tour in the Coast Guard during the early 1960s. He spoke often and fondly of his time in the service. He often recalled playing cribbage on the cold and remote Air Force base in Goose Bay, Labrador. Lee also loved telling stories about his service as a seaman and plankowner of the old wooden hulled 65 footer, the CG 65028D, and his service as a flight mechanic on the Coast Guard fixed wing aircraft. Members of the DeSoto Camera Club were permitted entry to Memphis' 164th Air National Guard facility at the International Airport, to tour and photograph the huge C-5 Galaxy aircraft which the unit flies. Their visit was organized by Lt. Col. Lamar Spencer, executive support officer, and conducted by Staff Sgt. Ronald Rogers, aircraft mechanic.
According to Spencer, the 164th ANG was founded in December 1946 and flew F-51 Mustang fighter aircraft, reassigned after WWII. Then in April 1961, the unit converted to airlifters, then called cargo planes, and transitioned from piston-engine C-124s to turboprop- equipped C-130s.
