When Karen Hinton and Bill and Dorothy Landecena imagine the future of the Planes of Fame Museum in Chino, they're thinking big: flight simulator, interactive air traffic control tower, and a wind tunnel to learn about lift and drag principles. They're dreaming about The Hands-on Aviation Education Center, which Hinton and Landecena will be raising money for at Saturday's Dinner Gala at the Air Museum event.
Recently, Fire Chief Dennis Downs of the Pasadena Fire Department announced that two fire stations, Station No. 39 (west Pasadena) and Station No. 32 (east Pasadena) were to be closed effective Wednesday, April 27. The stations were being vacated because engineering studies had determined the buildings do not meet minimum seismic safety standards. The chief indicated the stations would be closed for up to 30 months. Councilman Madison, Pasadena 6th District, indicated in an email that he was committed to reopening Station No. 39 and that he had known about this issue for weeks. Here are my concerns with this:

Flying is still a romantic adventure in Norman, where tomorrow's pilots are proving their prowess. The University of Oklahoma is hosting the National Intercollegiate Flying Association regional competition this week.
