ETTRICK - Virginia State University is a "catalyst and conveyer" in the community, Tom Vilsack, secretary of agriculture, said during a visit to the university Tuesday. Vilsack met with university and local leaders, farmers and students during a visit to promote President Barack Obama's moves to bolster farmers and the rural economy.
Vilsack, former governor of Iowa, lunched with university officials then hosted a 30-person roundtable discussion while on campus.
