In scene after scene, we look on as Kingsley stares into the distance, pounds his left hand on his desk and scribbles grisly visions with his right. In some cases, the drawings depict horrible crimes; in others, the places where they occur. On the up side, Kingsley is able to use the technique to locate murderers. On the down side, he can't "turn it off," and he is being driven to the brink of madness by the horror he's forced to witness.
Eckhart's character is dull and one-dimensional. Carrie Anne Moss turns up as a fellow agent and former love, but that story line goes nowhere. Much of the film's look is lifted directly from Seven, but virtually none of that picture's cleverness.
