SISTERS, Ore. (AP) Residents of two Sisters-area subdivisions evacuated because of the threat of wildfire were allowed to return to their homes Tuesday, though fire officials warned that the 9,200- acre Black Crater wildfire is still active. About 500 people had been evacuated from the two areas, Crossroads and Edgington, after the fire came dangerously close to their doorsteps. Another 1,000 people had been evacuated from another nearby subdivision, but they were allowed to return home Monday evening.
LeROY -- Linda Ramsey has found a way to say "Thank you" to the volunteers who recovered the bodies of her daughter and five others after their plane crashed last month in Kentucky. While I respect Tanner Edgington's decision to write in and express his standards ("Don't see movie," Readers' Forum, Nov. 16), I prefer that someone should speak more informatively after researching the hearsay, rather than taking the issue out of context. I reflect back to when different religious affiliations spoke about burning the Harry Potter books due to the promotion of witchcraft and devil worship. These were adults who had not even read one word of the books and yet wanted to throw us back to the days of Nazi Germany.
