WASHINGTON, Jan. 19 /U.S. Newswire/ -- Today, Secretary Condoleezza Rice will announce the nomination of Ambassador Randall Tobias, currently Coordinator of the Office of Global AIDS, for the position of Administrator to the United States Agency for International Development (USAID).
We need to take a hard look at Ambassador Tobias' track record in implementing the President's Emergency Plan for AIDS Relief (PEPFAR)," said James Wagoner, president of Advocates for Youth. WASHINGTON, Sept. 28 /U.S. Newswire/ -- Advocates for Youth today released two reports that raise new questions about the effectiveness of the abstinence-only-until-marriage approach to sex education endorsed by the federal government. A review of ten state evaluations of these abstinence-only programs, which teach teens only to "say no," finds no long-term success in delaying sexual initiation or reducing sexual risk-taking behaviors. An independent analysis of recent federal data also shows little reduction in teens' sexual risk behavior nationwide since the federal abstinence- only initiative began.

WASHINGTON, Sept. 15 /U.S. Newswire/ -- The following is a statement from James Wagoner, president, Advocates for Youth, on a CDC report regarding teens and sex

WASHINGTON, Feb. 14 /U.S. Newswire/ -- Marking both Valentine's Day and Condom Awareness Week, Advocates for Youth and Sex, Etc. announced the winners of the first "Respect Yourself. Protect Yourself." contest -- a youth-driven, nationwide campaign promoting open, honest discussion about the vital role condom education should play in this country's fight against unwanted pregnancy and STDs, including HIV.
The contest, based on a highly successful campaign in Germany, asked youth to use an online "tool" to create and submit design concepts, using the image of a condom as the primary visual for materials that promote responsible prevention. The winning entries can be found at http://www.advocatesforyouth.org/condom/.
