My heart broke when I saw "Rainbow rompers" [Page 1, May 22]. As a woman and mother who has attended the Long Beach Gay Pride festival in the past, I felt sorrow not only for the toddler on the cover, but for all children who were allowed to attend.
The "Pride" festival is an adults-only festival, to say the least. I do not think a child of any age should be forced to make sense of the events that take place on that day. The world these days is harsh enough with out having to witness men in g-strings, people dressed in bondage gear, pornographic flyers being handed out, freak dancing and displays of adults-only items.

It has certainly been noted that within the context of the marketplace, the terms "adult" and "mature" usually foreshadow salaciousness, vulgarity, violence and the exposure of body parts generally left swaddled.
My purpose, on the other hand, is to discuss the "grown-up" palate of the maturing wine drinker and a particular wine ideally suited to it.

Here's a novel idea: a sitcom for adults. "Lucky Louie" (Sunday, 9:30 p.m., HB0) follows the conventions of a broadcast-network sitcom, including a setup/punchline rhythm, audience laughter and set-bound action. The scenario is also familiar, with a battling married couple and their kooky friends. But "Lucky Louie" would never appear on a broadcast network. It adds a dose of realism -cussing, frank talk about sex - that wouldn't play well between the Pampers commercials.
I adore "Bridezillas," the reality show that chronicles women behaving badly before and during their weddings. I'm not sure what the attraction is, other than the feeling of relief that I'm not involved in the onscreen disaster. I guess it's similar to the primal pleasure of watching a Godzilla movie and knowing that yo...

Meet Dasher, a militant survivalist with a Rambo complex. Meet Cupid, who's openly gay and proud of it. Meet Prancer, who has delusions of Hollywood grandeur. And on second thought - don't meet Rudolph. His nose may be bright, but he definitely isn't.
Yes, they're Santa's reindeer. But they're not the relatively banal creatures you know from the traditional songs, stories and films; they're eight individuals, each with its own ax to grind. They're the characters in a new holiday production set to go up for one night only at The Grand in Ellsworth this Friday. "The Eight Reindeer Monologues" is a hilarious, for-adults-only retelling of the story of the reindeer and their Santa.

We traveled to the Galley Bay resort in Antigua in June, a very small, all-inclusive, adults-only resort. At times we had the ocean to ourselves. It's a great place to get away and relax since they have their own private beach with white sands. The best part was there were no crowds.
Tip: Visit Shirley Heights.

Successful president of the left
In his essay "Obama, the alleged class warrior," Stephen Chapman argues that Barack Obama is not a class warrior because he accepts "the need for largely free markets" and that price controls have long since ceased being an option for Democrats. This incredible assertion flies in the face of Obama policy over the past two-and-a- half-years.
