The EPA is hereby providing notice of a proposed administrative order on consent (Agreement)with the Spirito Family Trust and Alice C. Clarno, Trustee, concerning 4057 and 4059 Goodwin Avenue, Los Angeles, California (Property). The Agreement is entered into pursuant to the Comprehensive Environmental Response, Compensation, and Liability Act of 1980, as amended (CERCLA), 42 U.S.C. 9601, et seq. The Agreement provides for a settlement with the Trust on ability to pay grounds. Under the Agreement, the Trust will pay $1500 (one thousand five hundred dollars) to EPA in settlement of its potential liability for contamination at the Property.
The state Department of Environmental Protection is poised to fine the town of Marmet $56,010 for the improper operation of a lift station that dumped sewage on a hillside for 29 days last year. Marmet reported the lift station outage on March 12, 2010, but it wasn't fixed when DEP personnel visited the site on March 15, according to the proposed settlement of an administrative consent order.

The agreement with Atlantic Richfield Co., Shell Oil Products US and Premcor Refining Group is called an administrative order on consent. It requires the companies take a series of actions to address the long-standing problems caused by pollution in Hartford. These include: providing temporary measures to safeguard residences and public buildings from dangerous fumes, investigating the underground pool of refined petroleum products created by past pipeline breaks, and developing of a plan to provide temporary housing and relocation expenses for residents if they are displaced because of fumes in their homes.
