The National Labor Relations Board has ordered Ozburn-Hessey Logistics, an operator of Memphis distribution warehouses, to take steps to remedy unfair labor practices. The labor board last week backed an administrative law judge's ruling, which concluded in part that managers improperly threatened employees with loss of jobs and benefits because of union activities.
SMITHERS - Declaring victory in a three-year labor dispute with Massey Energy, members of the United Mine Workers of America dismantled a picket shack across from the Mammoth coal mine Thursday and said they expect to return to work soon. Massey, though, plans to appeal last week's ruling by a National Labor Relations Board administrative law judge, who recommended the company offer jobs to 85 union mine workers, recognize the union and bargain with it.
