A new ordinance that broadens the definition of "vicious dogs" and sends dog owners to administrative hearings overseen by county animal control officers instead of judges has some animal advocates concerned canines won't get a fair shake. While owners of allegedly vicious dogs were once sent to court for a hearing before a judge to decide their dogs' fate, the new ordinance means they will go before an administrative hearing presided over by L.A. County Department of Animal Care and Control.

The term 'neoliberalism' has since around 1980 become a quite widely used exhortation in some political and academic debates. Prolific employment of a term does not signify, however, that it is clearly defined. In this article it is suggested that while the concept itself has become an imprecise buzzword in much of the literature, it might still be given a more precise definition.
