Newspapers and magazines routinely publish heart-wrenching photos of firefighters administering oxygen to a distressed kitten or puppy rescued from a fire.
Seeing a local need for pet oxygen mask kits, Chesapeake-based Jo- Kell Inc., an electrical engineering and distribution company, has held fundraisers to purchase 20 kits, at $70 a piece . The nonprofit Animal Rescue of Tidewater distributed them to several Norfolk Fire Department stations and a local FEMA rescue team, which recently returned from search missions in Haiti.
