Employment at Adam Aircraft facilities in Ogden will take off in the coming months as the company adds 1,255 full-time jobs over the next two years. Adam Aircraft Industries Inc., based in Colorado, said Friday that it has selected Ogden for an expansion. The announcement came shortly after a state board reworked an economic development incentive to get the jobs to come to Utah.
Adam Aircraft Industries Inc., the Colorado-based maker of lightweight passenger planes, has filed to liquidate in bankruptcy protection after suspending operations last week. The closely held company listed debt of $50 million to $100 million and assets of less than $10 million on a voluntary Chapter 7 petition filed Friday in U.S. Bankruptcy Court in Denver. This Note explores various theories of patent misuse as they relate to patent pools. Taking into account varying ideological underpinnings of misuse, this Note proposes a framework for rule of reason analysis of anticompetitive foreclosure of alternative technologies. The framework offers a phased analysis, borrowed from antitrust law, to focus the inquiry on the harms patent misuse seeks to deter in patent-pool licensing practices. The goal of the proposed framework is to increase operational clarity to modern, innovative firms and provide guidance to courts when applying rule of reason analysis to determine whether anticompetitive foreclosure could result from a challenged use of a patent pool.
Adam Aircraft Industries Inc. has shut down its operations in Ogden for several months, but the company's long-term plans for employing more than 1,250 people at the facility remain intact. The company said Thursday that it has suspended operations at its Ogden manufacturing facility through early summer, affecting 50 workers at the south end of Ogden-Hinckley Airport. But the company expects to bring back those positions as it begins ramping up production of its A500 aircraft, a six-seat, twin-propeller plane.
