The second annual Seymour Founders Day will be held 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. downtown. The event is being sponsored by Oxford Paint and Hardware. Rain date is June 12. Admission is free.

In a previous column I noted that memory involves three steps. We have to perceive accurately or take note of whatever we want to remember. Then we have to commit it to memory. Finally, we have to be able to recall it. In order for our memories to function, all three steps must work well.
Whenever we can improve the working of any one of the three stages, our memories are more efficient.

Under the FDCPA, a consumer is afforded 30 days from receiving the validation notice to request verification if submitted in writing. If a consumer submits such a request, the debt collector is required to cease collection activity until proper verification is provided to the consumer. If a collector is unable to obtain proper verification, the debt collector must cease all collection activities. Sample Letters 1, 2, 5, 10 and 1 1 may be helpful when drafting letters in response to these instances, depending on the consumer's specific situation.
