Free SAT and ACT Practice Test
In partnership with Kaplan Test Prep, the Duarte Public Library will offer free SAT and ACT sample exams from 11:30 to 3:30 p.m. on Saturday, Oct. 15. Register for the practice tests by Friday, Oct. 14, at any public desk at the Duarte Library or by calling 626-358- 1865. Be sure to bring No. 2 pencils and a calculator. To receive your score back, head to a seminar from 6 p.m. to 7 p.m. on Tuesday, Oct. 25.

SAT/ACT practice test
Rowland Heights Library will hold a SAT/ACT Combo Practice Test from 9:30 a.m. to 1 p.m. on Saturday, Sept. 11. This test is 3.5 hours long and contains representative sections from both exams.

The Hatch-Waxman Act, a piece of legislation that seeks to foster generic competition for brand-name pharmaceuticals, has led to the troubling practice of reverse-payment settlements. In such settlements, the brand-name company pays the generic company a sum of money to delay the generic's entry into the market. Thus, the settlements raise antitrust concerns, but they also are complicated by the patent regime at play. This Note considers some of the prevailing antitrust theories used to analyze such settlements and looks at the three circuit courts that have addressed these payments. It concludes that no circuit split currently exists and that the Medicare Modernization Act of 2003, which amended Hatch-Waxman, has curbed the potential for antitrust violations. A new program at Olive Branch High School gives students a chance to raise their ACT scores and their semester averages.
This year, the school added a half-credit elective ACT prep course. Students who log the required 400 minutes, complete practice tests and take the ACT test during the semester receive the credit and an "A" in the class.
