DAYTON -- University of Dayton basketball games haven't contained nearly as many alley-oop dunks as in past seasons, but Chris Wright and his teammates treated fans to some aerial acrobatics against Western Carolina.
Wright skied for a feed from Josh Benson and threw down a reverse slam in the first half. A few possessions later, Josh Parker found Wright on the move and dropped another lob near the basket for the senior forward to hammer through the rim.

Being an admirer of most things British, I would like to start out with one of their most descriptive and useful colloquialisms.
Gobsmacked. I am gobsmacked. Astonished beyond words. This is not a helpful way to be when one is faced with the task of writing. Words are quite useful in such an endeavor.

Voters in the Jan. 11 special election for the House of Delegates have a clear choice. Ginger Mumpower, owner of Ginger's Jewelers and proven creator of local jobs, is running against a mostly unknown liability lawsuit lawyer from Salem, Greg Habeeb.

You don't need to be a horse lover to appreciate The World Famous Lipizzaner Stallions, said Gary Lapinsky.
Lapinsky, who has helped present ice shows, Broadway musicals and Rolling Stones concerts over his 45-year career, sees producing the Lipizzaner show as a kind of musical dance extravaganza performed by horses and humans.

Choreographer Judith "Flex" Helle loves to mix things together. Just like a world-class chef, she knows her ingredients - ballet, contemporary dance and death-defying aerial work and acrobatics - and she isn't afraid to use them.
In just three years, Helle's dance company, Luminario Ballet, has earned a reputation for delivering electrifying performances that combine terrestrial and airborne movement set to classical and modern musical styles, including classic rock.
