William Huntress said his firm, Acquest Development, has hired Nunzio DeSantis of Dallas-based HKS Architects, "probably the best resort architect in the world," to draw up plans to save the three historic buildings and create two new ones.

Developer William Huntress is a smart and cunning businessman. Over time, he's built a reputation for acquiring property, and designing and constructing new office buildings that he typically fills with government tenants. The Niagara Center in downtown Buffalo is a good example. He also partnered initially with Uniland Development on the transformation of the former Dulski building on Delaware Avenue into the impressive Avant.
But while local often face controversy and criticism, Huntress and his company, Acquest Development, stand out from the crowd. The pile of lawsuits filed against Huntress and Acquest over the years is one measure of a man described as arrogant, vindictive and self-serving by those who have stood in his way.
