Trade between the African, Caribbean and Pacific Group of States (ACP) and the EC have not reached the levels that were hoped for under the Lome Convention. ACP's share of the EC's import market has declined while the volume of EC imports overall as grown. The conclusion of the Cold War and the EC's shifting emphasis toward Eastern Europe and the former USSR are likely to exacerbate ACP's decreasing role in EC trade.
