Chief John Michael Brackin was recently recognized with a plaque in appreciation of his years of service to the Southaven Fire Department. He retired on June 18 after 27 years of service - 3 1/2 years with the Southaven Fire Department and the remainder of time split between the Columbus Fire Department and the Mississippi Fire Academy. The plaque read, "In appreciation for your demonstration of exceptional leadership including a superior vision for the future of the Southaven Fire Department, and in recognition of your achievements and dedication to your duties - please accept this acknowledgment of our admiration and gratitude for your support, inspiration, and service" given by the mayor, Board of Alderman and the Southaven Fire Department.
