The Merriam-Webster dictionary definition of a demagogue is "a leader who makes use of popular prejudices and false claims and promises in order to gain power." In his op-ed column of Feb. 13, Jim Parker accuses environmental groups testifying before the Joint Select Committee on Regulatory Reform of making "a concerted effort to demagogue these hearings."
