An unofficial "homecoming day" for Syracuse University commenced on March 28 at the Westcott Theater, replete with sweaty pep, liquid cheers and an electric prom. By 7 p.m., all 700 tickets to the 9 p.m. dance were sold out, with several latecomers apologetically turned away by the Westcott's management chaperones. Ra Ra Riot, the band that formed at Syracuse University in 2006-and now has the national spotlight shining bright upon them-headlined the evening's al accompaniment.
Ra Ra Riot performed several tracks from their eponymous debut EP and their first LP dubbed The Rhumb Line (Barsuk), including "Each Year," "Can You Tell," and "Ghost Under Rocks," the entire set of which timed out at less than an hour. The songs are performed in a nearly identical manner as you'd hear them ...

Stephen Stills "Just Roll Tape: April 26, 1968" Country-Rock: A-
Stills was helping produce tracks for an album by his then- girlfriend Judy Collins when he decided to stay a little longer in the studio and record a batch of his own demos. Long believed destroyed, the tape of that April 1968 solo session was unearthed in 2003 and is now available on CD for the first time. Stills, whom Hendrix once dubbed his favorite guitar slinger, offers fierce acoustic accompaniment on the rollicking blues tracks "Black Queen" and "Bumblebee (Do You Need a Place t...
