Exhilaration followed the unsettling news.
I walked into work around noon two years ago and couldn't log on to my office email account. Shortly afterward, my editor asked me to step into her office, where she told me that my six-year position as the paper's pop music critic had been eliminated.

Lately, I seem to have taken a real liking to radicchio. Its somewhat bitter taste adds depth to lettuce salads and pairs well with many types of salad additions, such as bits of strongly flavored cheese, chopped fruit or nuts.
There are several varieties of radicchio, but the type most commonly found in our area resembles a small head of red cabbage, though its leaves are not quite as densely packed.

The members of the Sunshine Archestra face this challenge twofold.

Yeaney's group stayed in Jerusalem and traveled widely in the surrounding area, conducting about 30 interviews of government officials, human rights leaders, religious and humanitarian non-governmental organizations, educators, students, farmers, business people, Palestinian refugees, and Israeli settlers. Nearly everyone, including elected officials of the Palestinian National Authority, spoke of their commitment to a two-state solution to the conflict, Yeaney said, but they also pointed out the intransigence of political leaders, the inability of the fledgling Palestinian Authority to unify and control its diverse parties, and most, importantly, the continued violation of past agreements by the Israeli government.

Testing Ditica's high-end chops, Jason ordered filet Oscar, crab meat atop a tall filet mignon set in a puddle of Béarnaise sauce. As in a dining companion's prime rib, the quality of the beef was unmistakable. The crab was more or less a crab cake, which proved an excellent variation as toasted breadcrumbs added another texture to this rich dish. The sauce was mild but creamy and herbal, and the bed of asparagus spears was bright green yet tender.
Nevertheless, we pressed on to our entrees, with Angelique eager to try Ditica's rendition of skirt steak. This cut is usually reserved for fajitas, except in Chicago, where it is justly beloved as ...
