Truck driver Opal Leanne Toney has accepted a plea bargain for her role in the 1988 double homicide of Apple Valley businessman Hulon Hughes and his wife, Elaine Hughes.
Toney, 55, pleaded guilty to one count of being an accessory after the fact during proceedings Wednesday before Judge John Tomberlin in Victorville Superior Court, according to court records.

MARTINSBURG - A warrant has been issued charging an exotic dancer from Berkeley County in connection with the murder of a man found shot dead at her apartment complex, and police are seeking any information regarding her whereabouts.
The warrant charges 26-year-old Ashley Nicole Carpegna of Martinsburg with felony accessory after the fact to murder, investigators said during a press conference Monday at the Berkeley County Sheriff's Department.

PETERSBURG - A minister and funeral home owner has pleaded guilty to charges of helping a retired insurance agent forge documents.
In a plea agreement, the Rev. William N. Bland Jr., 61, pastor of Metropolitan Baptist Church and owner of William N. Bland & Son Funeral Home, pleaded guilty Monday to misdemeanor charges of willful misconduct by a notary public and being an accessory after the fact to forgery. He was sentenced to one year in jail, all of it suspended, on the accessory charge and a $500 fine on the misconduct count.
