America may be in the throes of financial turmoil, but a business savvy crew of North Jersey students seem to have a firm handle on the stock market, outperforming the S&P 500 between the turbulent months of October and December.
A team of seventh-graders at the Yavneh Academy in Paramus and three teams of High Schoolers at Dwight Morrow High School/ Academies at Englewood took first place in statewide stock market competitions.

John Grieco, an educator who brought competitive college-level academies to Bergen County's vocational schools and enacted bold and controversial initiatives to desegregate Englewood's public high school, died Saturday night.
Grieco, 63, died at his Teaneck home from a stroke or heart attack, friends said. He had run the county's technical schools since 1984, its special education programs since 1995 and Englewood's public schools since 2002. He also taught a philosophy class at the Bergen County Academies.
