EAST RUTHERFORD - A truck driver from Wallington was injured Thursday when his truck struck a guardrail on the New Jersey Turnpike, ran off the road and struck a bridge abutment, state police said. The ramp at Exit 16W was closed for almost three hours while rescue workers extricated Mieczysla Rusin, 61, from the wreckage and firefighters from East Rutherford and Rutherford cleaned up 100 gallons of diesel fuel that spilled onto the shoulder, state police Sgt. Hector Ayala said.

DEAR SUN SPOTS: I am trying to make contact with anyone who remembers the terrible truck-bridge accident on Nov. 8, 1972, at the intersection of Route 4 and 117 at the bridge entrance. I am the younger brother of George Kamps, who was killed in that crash and who was the driver of the semi-truck that slammed into the bridge abutment, apparently to avoid a crane coming across the bridge.
