• Allgier Abettor Gets Year in Jail

A woman who helped an escaped prison inmate accused of killing a corrections officer was sentenced Monday to one year in jail. Trisha Tower, 26, said little during the hearing as she was sentenced for first-degree felony obstruction of justice. Tower was given credit for time she has already served in jail, meaning she will serve an additional three months before being released on three- year probation.

• Climbers Should Pay for Rescue, Injuries?

The foolish activities of the two people who attempted to climb East Rock should be fully prosecuted, and they should pay the costs of their rescue and of the injuries to the rescuers. A firefighter who suffered a compound dislocation of his ankle will be suffering for a long time. Every so often we read of these dangerous attempts to climb East Rock and the problems of rescuing those involved. I have not heard of any prosecutions or payments made to reimburse the costs. The climbers are bad enough, but the city is an abettor if it does not take steps through prosecution and billing perpetrators to discourage the bad behavior.
