Claremont homeowners are opening their homes and hearts to the community to help abandoned and neglected children. The youngsters are associated with The Children's Fund of San Bernardino, a public/private partnership whose mission is to prevent child abuse and to help at-risk youngsters who are impoverished receive the food they need to prosper. The nonprofit also provides clothing, shelter, medical care and educational opportunities to those in need.
WASHINGTON, Sept. 22 /U.S. Newswire/ -- The Children's Defense Fund (CDF) today urged Congress to reject H.R. 1308 -- legislation extending tax breaks enacted in 2001 and 2003. Although the cost of this misguided bill is likely to exceed $140 billion, it fails to fund the child tax credit to those families making less than $10,700 this year.
