Several organizations choose to be process-oriented. Process orientation means focusing on business processes rather than emphasizing functional structure or hierarchy. In this paper is discussed. The a priori model consists of ten dimensions, each operationalized by several indicators. The paper applies a factor analysis to the a priori model by using data from 133 Austrian corporations in order to investigate the underlying data structure. The result of the paper is a revised model with newly developed unidimensional factors, each measuring a certain dimension of process orientation.

There is a tremendous amount of resources being tied up in litigation between insurance companies and policyholders over things like the extent of coverage for various loss scenarios or allegedly bad faith delays in settlement payments. The fact that policyholders formally dispute insurer coverage positions or claims payment strategies gives credibility to the idea that mismatches exist between what policyholders expect insurance policies to cover and what the insurance contracts actually provide as loss indemnification. This mismatch essentially represents insurance basis risk, the analysis of which can more accurately reflect the value and overall efficiency of insurance contracts and suggest factors that may influence policyholder dissatisfaction and consequently insurance contract d...

In 1962, Chandler described strategic planning as a rational process. This view of strategy was challenged by Henry Mintzberg (1978) when he argued that not all strategies are deliberately created. Some strategies emerge following a series of decisions by the leadership of the firm. The process of strategy formation that Chandler and Mintzberg described was associated with large, well-established businesses. This paper uses Chandler's (1962) and Mintzberg's (1978, 1985) work as a point of departure to argue that existing research may not fully capture the dynamics of the planning process that leads to the creation of a new business venture. Recent scholarly work has explored the strategy process in small firms as well as new business ventures. This research stream has evolved into a con...

This paper examines the efficiency of the "in-play" Australian Rules football fixed odds betting market at quarter time, half time, and three quarter time. Tests of semi-strong efficiency are performed on the 2009 AFL season using logistic regression analysis. The results demonstrate that as the match progresses, there is a significant bias against the team that is currently leading-a bias that increases when the team that is leading is also the away-favorite. This bias is shown to yield significant profits utilizing simple betting strategies.
