Los Angeles chefs and restaurants are busy this month and next cooking up plenty of delicious creations for numerous festivals and events. And some new restaurants are in the works or have opened recently, too. Flappers Comedy Club Burbank plans to open in August. In the former Macaroni Grill space, it will feature a 1920s theme "Still Celebrating the Repeal of Prohibition," with three separate dining and show areas. The main showroom will seat 220, a smaller room 50 and the bar with a small stage about 30 to 40. The club (which joins another one already open in Claremont) plans to offer eating, drinking and comedy from 6 p.m. to 2 a.m. Wednesday through Sunday. Mile Lock Lane in Brackenridge will be relocated with up to $1.8 million from Allegheny County. A portion of the borough-owned road is being moved 30 to 40 feet to the south to make room for the expansion of Allegheny Technologies Inc.'s Allegheny Ludlum unit. On Wednesday, the Redevelopment Authority of Allegheny County approved entering into a cooperation agreement with the Allegheny Valley North Council of Governments and transferring $1.8 million to the council to pay for the Mile Lock Lane work.

REDLANDS - University of Redlands students attended the annual Hunger and Homelessness Banquet Tuesday, Nov. 28, on campus. At the Hunsaker Center, students picked a card at random that assigned them to various socioeconomic classes.
