On July 20, 1969, Apollo 11 astronauts Neil Armstrong and Buzz Aldrin became the first humans to walk on the moon. Forty years later, a variety of museums, space centers and other institutions are marking the anniversary with events, exhibits, concerts and lectures.

Late on the evening of July 20, 1969, Susan J. Clements sat in her pajamas on a bench in the dining hall at Camp Seven Hills in Holland and watched the grainy footage on TV.
Ernst Both, then an astronomer at the Buffalo Science Museum, was in Ocean City, N.J., watching the broadcast at a neighbor's house because his vacation home didn't have telephone or television service.

Robert L. Russel, whose 20-year tenure as El Paso County's district attorney launched the careers of powerful attorneys, charmed juries and pioneered new approaches to justice in the Pikes Peak Region, has died at the age of 82.
He was pronounced dead at 11:40 a.m. Wednesday at St. Francis Select Care in Colorado Springs.

An unidentified Arizona woman was killed in a single car accident at 2:56 p.m. today when her Mercury Grand Marquis rolled over on the eastbound Highway 40, 11 miles west of Needles, authorities said.
She was an elderly woman, officials from the CHP Barstow office said. Her name was not available.
