KETTERING -- About 140 soldiers from the Ohio Army National Guard's 371st Sustainment Brigade are preparing to mobilize for a yearlong deployment in Iraq.
The public is invited to the unit's 2 p.m. deployment ceremony Sunday, April 27, at Vineyard Church, 4051 Indian Ripple Road, Beavercreek.

SPRINGFIELD -- An Ohio National Guard unit previously based in Kettering celebrated the official opening of its new $17.3 million home in Springfield with a ribbon cutting ceremony Friday.
The 371st Sustainment Brigade moved its headquarters from the County Line Road facility in Kettering to the more modernized Springfield Armed Forces Reserve Center over the summer.

BEAVERCREEK -- Several local and state dignitaries joined the community on Sunday, April 27, in bidding farewell to 138 members of the Ohio Army National Guard's 371st Sustainment Brigade during a Call to Duty Ceremony at The Vineyard Church.
The Kettering-based unit will depart early Wednesday for Fort McCoy, Wis., where they will spend 60 to 90 days receiving specialized training to prepare for their mission offering oversight and management of units providing logistical support.

Knights donate food baskets
The South Dayton Knights seventh- and eighth-grade basketball teams, with players from Centerville, Miamisburg, Dayton, Oakwood, Bellbrook, Springboro and Kettering, donated food baskets to The Other Place, a social service organization that serves homeless men, women and children in Dayton and Montgomery County.
