HAWTHORNE Patricia Alberta needed to get there fast, so the volunteer ambulance corps member turned on the flashing blue light on the dashboard of her beige 2005 Nissan Altima.
As she headed south on Fifth Avenue at 4:43 p.m. Jan. 14, a car in front of her moved to the right, appearing to pull over to let Alberta pass. But then the driver did just the opposite. He turned left, attempting to pull into his driveway, according to a police report.

Authorities are searching for a 29-year-old man suspected of kidnapping a Spring Valley woman this morning.
Melvin Vincent Bragg is believed to have snatched Monica Mercer, 25, from her home early this morning and driven off in her 2005 Nissan Altima. They were last seen in Santa Ana.

Luling resident Renee Helmstetter called State Farm to ask about auto insurance for her 15-year-old son Nicholas, who will have a learner's permit until next year when he turns 16.
She wants to put him on her policy and under one of her two cars - a 2005, six-speed, Nissan Altima sports version. Helmstetter also owns a 2002 Trans Am black convertible.

COLONIAL HEIGHTS -- Two people were injured following a single- vehicle crash on Interstate 95 yesterday.
According to Virginia State Police Trooper Wade Blevins, Mahdee Fareed of Richmond was traveling southbound at a speed of 80 mph on the interstate at around 6:30 p.m. Monday. Fareed was changing lanes in a 2005 Nissan Altima past the No. 55 mile marker from the left lane. While attempting to do so, Fareed lost control of the vehicle and shifted off the right side of the roadway. The vehicle hit an embankment, flipped several times and stuck a road sign. Fareed and his passenger, Ronniette Sutton of Richmond, were ejected out of the vehicle.

A Bangor woman was critically hurt in a one-vehicle accident in Kenduskeag on Friday evening but likely was spared more serious injuries through the quick response of others.
Lynne Dumont, 45, was driving northwest on Mudgett Road when her 2005 Nissan Altima went off the roadway. The car went down an embankment and struck several trees before landing in a dry streambed. Part of the car then caught on fire, according to Maine State Police Trooper Michael Johnston.
