Just more than three weeks ago, Zach Randolph and Gilbert Arenas, both members of the NBA's 2001 draft class, were in different mental orbits with the same thought.
Would they ever get back the talent they once had?

When the Washington Wizards drafted Kwame Brown with the No.1 pick overall in the 2001 NBA Draft, they envisioned him as a cornerstone for their future.
Now he might not even have a future with the franchise.

So it became [Isiah Thomas]'s turn. But dont blame Isiah for [Eddy Curry]'s slow learning curve. Curry lacks something no one can teach. Reaction skills. He simply cannot react in an NBA instant to situations around him. He is usually the last player down on both ends. He doesn't react to the presence of Randolph when [Zach Randolph] wheels across the lane. He often stands in Zach's way instead of sliding opposite the ball and making himself available to receive a pass or gain rebounding position.
The disclosure came after his team had been beaten down by a determined and scrappy Indiana Pacers team this past Monday night at Madison Square Garden. Believe it or not, at 25 years old and in his seventh season as the fourth overall selection (Chicago) in the 2001 NBA Draft, the young man ...

LOS ANGELES -- Kwame Brown is headed to the Los Angeles Lakers, his agent said Thursday.

I always say, and will continue to say, that [Tim Duncan] is one of the most underrated and underappreciated players in the league. Maybe it's his demeanor on the court, but if you take a look at what he's done this past decade, I'm surprised he hasn't picked up more hardware.
Many GM' s and NBA writers scratched their heads when the Spurs picked a player out of Paris Basket Racing with their 28th overall pick in the 2001 Draft. But, it didn't take long before [Tony Parker] made a splash in the NBA.
While you may look at his stats and not think twice about him, he's been a very key cog to the way this Spurs team runs, and I think I can safely say that at the most 3 banners, not 4, would be hanging in the AT&T Center without him, 2005 was clearly his best year. He was unstoppable in ...

Washington Wizards big men Kwame Brown and Brendan Haywood, 22- and 25-year-old alumni of the 2001 NBA Draft class, remain unknown quantities heading into their fourth seasons. Unless the Wizards offer them extensions by Oct. 31, both could become free agents next summer.
However, both are certain their own situations won't disrupt team unity.

Ever wonder where the Nets would be today without Richard Jefferson? Nets president Rod Thorn now admits that Jefferson almost wasn't a Net. Seems the forward from Arizona had two less-than- average workouts for New Jersey prior to the 2001 NBA Draft, and Vladimir Radmanovic's workout was better.
If Seattle hadn't taken Radmanovic with the 12th pick, Thorn said the Nets might have "strongly considered" telling Houston to take him with No. 13. Because the Sonics took Radmanovic, the Nets sent Eddie Griffin to the Rockets for three players, including Jefferson.

The Washington Wizards are happy with what they are seeing from Kwame Brown and rightly so.
Brown, the top pick in the 2001 NBA Draft, for the first time in his career has shown signs of turning into the cornerstone player the Wizards gambled he would become. One indication is that he has 17 double-doubles this season compared with seven over his first two seasons.
