Next Saturday, throngs of so-called Kinetinauts will take to the streets and waters around the Inner Harbor in the annual melding of art and engineering that is the American Visionary Art Museum's Kinetic Sculpture Race.
For eight hours on May 5, the roads leading from the museum on Key Highway to Canton and Patterson Park will be clogged with human- powered sculptures that have been created by teams of budding engineers and artists. Decked out in outlandish themed costumes to match their creations, the teams will maneuver through the grueling 15-mile course that winds through downtown Baltimore, ending back at the museum.
